Best Hotels for a Seahawks Weekend

Hotels to Stay at in Seattle

Turn a Great Day into a Great Weekend!!

There are plenty of hotels in downtown Seattle and near the stadium to stay at for a night or two.

  • Are any of the hotels more "Seahawk Friendly" than the others?
  • Any hidden gems are a great price?

Please leave your experiences in the comment section:

Take Light Rail to the Seahawks Game

Sky Train to Seahawks Game

If you've parked far away from the football stadium to save a few bucks or you're staying at a downtown Seattle hotel, consider taking the Century Link Light Rail to the Stadium. You can catch the Link along 3rd Avenue at Westlake or University Street.

The trains are similar to our Skytrain and run every 10 minutes on Sunday. Be sure to get on the direction going towards SeaTac Airport (Southbound). Only $2. Well worth it if you're planning to walk up to the top level of the football stadium. (There is an elevator as well to the 300 level, but the lineup can be quite long.)

If you're planning on entering the football stadium through on the north side, or decide to check out Blue Thunder on Occidental Avenue before the game, get off at the International District/Chinatown Station.

Blue Thunder Intense Drumming - Perfect Pre-Game Motivation.

If you plan on tailgating at the 'Pen at Safeco field, get off at the following stop; Stadium Station. Getting on an the Pioneer Square stop won't save you much walking unless you plan on getting off at the (Safeco)Stadium Station.

Vancouver NFL Fans in Seattle

Vancouver NFL Fans Flocking South

Vancouver Adopts Seahawks Football

It would be better to buy a cow than cross the border for cheap milk on Sunday. Far easier to get to Abbotsford than Blaine for less expensive gasoline.

It would be better to be almost anywhere other than a Metro Vancouver border crossing Sunday morning because lining up with the final surge of Christmas shoppers will be as many as 7,000 Canadians swarming south to scream their lungs out for the Seattle Seahawks NFL Football game.

If Canadians had been this eager to push southward 170 years ago in support of their convictions, the boundary of British Columbia would probably still stretch to the mouth of the Columbia River instead of the 49th parallel, where it was pushed by expansionist U.S. President James Polk when neither Britain nor America had the appetite to wage war over the Pacific Northwest.

Sorry about the history lesson. But there’s a lesson here for the Vancouver Canucks, too. If the National Hockey League isn’t going to play, not every sports fan here is locking himself in the bedroom and writing lonely odes to the Canucks. Apparently, a lot of them like the National Football League. And this season, especially, there is a lot to like about the Seahawks.

How Loud Is Century Link Field?

Loud

Louder than a Vancouver Canucks regular season game. I'd say it's comparable a Canuck Playoff game when the Canucks first take the the ice.

Here a video from the Arizona Blow-out game to give you an idea how loud it is.

Seahawks Come to Vancouver

Seattle Seahawks Soar into B.C. Lions territory

This week, the annual Seahawks caravan pulls into Vancouver to remind football fans that the NFL season will soon be upon us, with the start of training camps set to open on July 27.

The late B.C. Lions president Bob Ackles spent more than 50 years in the football business, including significant stints as an executive with the Dallas Cowboys, Phoenix Cardinals, Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins. But talk of the NFL coming to Canada “scares me as a CFL fan. I’m just telling you, it will kill the CFL,” Ackles stated in his autobiography, The Water Boy.

He mainly was talking about NFL expansion to Canada, specifically Toronto, not necessarily a pre-season or even a one-off league game as the Buffalo Bills do on an annual basis at Rogers Centre in partnership with Rogers Communications. Still, the NFL’s popularity is growing in Canada, especially in B.C. According to a survey undertaken by NFL International, the percentage of Canadian sports fans who claim they are “very interested” in the NFL is placed at 29 per cent in this province, compared to 23 per cent on the Prairies and just 20 per cent in, of all places, Toronto.

The sample survey encompasses the 13-64 age range, male and female, and cuts across a wide demographic. The Seattle Seahawks, in particular, regard British Columbia, Alberta, Idaho, Oregon, Alaska and, naturally, Washington as part of their territory of influence as the NFL team whose reach spans the greatest geographical area.

Tod Leiweke, a former Seahawks president and executive with Orca Bay Sports and Entertainment in Vancouver, was particularly keen to link the Lower Mainland into the Seahawks constituency while mindful of the CFL and the Lions’ unique place in West Coast culture and history.
